Below is a list of the plugins I have loaded on my system, and if I am using them or not along with any notes about it.
| Title | Author | Description | Used | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Add to Any: Share/ Bookmark/ Email Button | Add to Any | Help readers share, save, bookmark, and email your posts and pages using any service. [Settings] | No | Replaced with: OnlyWire Bookmark & Share Button (Official Plugin) |
| AJAXed Wordpress | Aaron Harun | A plugin that incorporates the best AJAX Wordpress features and wrap them in a single framework–including such features as inline posts and comments, the ability to paginate posts, submit comments, thread comments, edit comments and posts inline. The Admin panel is under Appearance tab. Need Help? Find out about your support options or try reading the full documentation. | No | Slowed my site down way too much |
| Akismet | Matt Mullenweg | Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not. You need a WordPress.com API key to use it. | BackType Connect | BackType | Show related conversations (from other blogs, Twitter, Digg, FriendFeed and more) inline with your own comments. | Yes | |
| BackWPup | Daniel Hüsken | Backup and more of your WordPress Blog Database and Files. | Yes | Do not know how often it will be needed, but like insurance it is better to have it and never need it. |
| Bible Verse | MyChurch.org Team | Changes Bible references to hyperlinks for Wordpress 1.5 and above. If you have a higher version of Wordpress you might want to upgrade the plugin. Thanks to Scripturizer Team for the inspiration. | No | Replaced with: WP-Bible |
| Blog Copyright (by BTE) | Blog Traffic Exchange | Simple plugin to inject copyright statement into blog footer. Configuration options are here. | Yes | |
| Contextual Related Posts | Ajay D’Souza | Show user defined number of contextually related posts. Based on the plugin by Mark Ghosh. Configure… | No | Replaced with: Related Sites which I felt would be better. |
| Delete Spam Daily | Brock Angelo | Uses wp_cron to delete comments each day that are marked “spam” in the database. | Yes | Admin |
| Enhanced WP- ContactForm | Joost de Valk | WP Contact Form is a drop in form for users to contact you. In the message it sends to you it gives the page the user visited before the contact page, as well as the original outside referer. It can be implemented on a page or a post. | Yes | Gives much more infor than any of the others I looked at and tried. It includes all the pages prev. visited on my site as well as the external referer. |
| GeoSmart | Samuel Folkes | GeoSmart automatically adds city-precise location information for comment authors to comment metadata. GeoSmart can also display a Google map showing comment author distribution across the globe. Requires PHP 5. Map display requires a Google Maps API Key. | Yes | |
| Hello Dolly | Matt Mullenweg | This is not just a plugin, it symbolizes the hope and enthusiasm of an entire generation summed up in two words sung most famously by Louis Armstrong: Hello, Dolly. When activated you will randomly see a lyric from Hello, Dolly in the upper right of your admin screen on every page. | No | Included in original setup. |
| Insights | Vladimir Prelovac | Insights allows you to quickly search and insert information (links, images, videos, maps, news..) into your blog posts. | Yes | Admin |
| No Self Pings | Michael D. Adams | Keeps WordPress from sending pings to your own site. | Yes | Did not like that everytime I made a link to my gallery it was pinged back. |
| OnlyWire Bookmark & Share Button (Official Plugin) | OnlyWire Engineering Team | Auto-submit your posts to over 20 social networks with one click | Yes | Finally decided on this share button because of it’s capability to auto-submit my posts to multiple sites. |
| Picasa Image Express | Scrawl | Browse, search and select photos from any publicly available Picasa Web Album and add them to your post/pages. | Yes | This and the Picasna plugin allow complete use of the picasa photos and albums. |
| Picasna | Igor Barbashin | Picasna for Wordpress is a free plugin that enables you to display your photos in a stylish and easy-to-browse way on your Wordpress Blog. It’s a fullscreen gallery that uses the best tool for editing and managing your photos – Picasa 3 (by Google). You can upload photos directly to Picasa Web Albums and they will appear on your web page in seconds. | Yes | This and the Picasa Image Express plugin allow complete use of the picasa photos and albums. |
| Plugins list | Davide Benini | Displays a list of the active plugins – just insert [ plugins_list ] in posts or pages, between ul or ol elements. If you want more custimization, take a look at the documentation. | Yes | Used to make the start of this post. |
| Related Sites | Blog Traffic Exchange | Add your posts to the Blog Traffic Exchange and add Links to related websites throughout the blogosphere. | SimpleModal Contact Form (SMCF) | Eric Martin | A modal Ajax contact form built on the SimpleModal jQuery plugin. Once Activated, go to “Options” or “Settings” and select “SimpleModal Contact Form”. | No | Liked the looks of this one the most, but the Enhanced WP-ContactForm plugin provided better information along with the comment. |
| Social Homes | Elie Zananiri | Adds a sidebar widget containing a subtle list of all your social homes as linked favicons. Current services include anything and everything! Just add the full URL to the list of services and Social Homes will figure out what the icon is automatically. | Yes | Choose this plugin because of its configurability. You provide the site and it goes out and gets the favicon for the site, meaning you can choose what sites you belong to and not just what the have listed. |
| Socialize This | Mike Rogers | Adds social icons to your blog posts. It also can update your twitter status when you publish a post. | No | This one never worked on my site (and if it had I would have replaced it), so I decided on using the Twitter Tools, WP to Twitter and OnlyWire Bookmark & Share Button (Official Plugin) |

| Twitter Digest | Tim Beck | Create a daily post on your blog containing the tweets from your Twitter account. Based on Alex King’s Twitter Tools plugin. | No | Replaced with: Twitter Tools because it does not store tweets in the database and the daily digest can only show the last 20 posts. |

| Twitter for Wordpress extended | Marc Schieferdecker | Displays your tweets/friends timeline/search results/twitter trends in your WordPress blog. Based on Twitter for Wordpress by Ricardo González. | No | Replaced with: Twitter Tools |
| Twitter Tools | Alex King | A complete integration between your WordPress blog and Twitter. Bring your tweets into your blog and pass your blog posts to Twitter. | Yes | I liked that this would save the tweets to the database and at the end of the day or week would digest all your tweets (Twitter Digest only digests up to 20) and it has many other features. |
| Use Google Libraries | Jason Penney | Allows your site to use common javascript libraries from Google’s AJAX Libraries CDN, rather than from Wordpress’s own copies. | Yes | Admin |
| WP-Bible | Matej Nastran | Plugin finds Bible references in your posts and changes them for the actual text from the Bible. You can choose any of 38 different translations in 14 languages that are available at BIBLIJA.net. | Yes | Liked the way this would put the verse in a balloon. |
| WP-Crontrol | Edward Dale | WP-Crontrol lets you take control over what’s happening in the WP-Cron system. See my series on Taking control of WP-Cron using WP-Crontrol for usage ideas. | Yes | Admin |

The usability and sheer number of plugins to fit any type of blog is probably the number one reason why I love Wordpress more than any other blogger platform out there.
